There are electric scooters, electric bikes, and then there is the X-treme XB-700Li Electric Bicycle. The X-Treme XB-700Li is a Lithium Ion powered electric bike that is like a comfy couch that is legal to cruise on the roads as you woulld on a bicycle. No license, registration, or insurance is required (where I live, Los Angeles), and the XB-700Li has pedals and doesn't exceed 20mph, so you can ride the XB-700Li wherever you can ride a regular Bicycle. The XB-700Li was delivered to me via Freight trucking. Once the XB-700Li arrived, I checked over it and tightened every nut and bolt that I could get to, and checked to see that all the neccessary parts were included. I liked the fact that this ebike showed up with "optional" pedals, a tool kit, smart battey charger, and multiple storage compartments throughout the bike. These items are all standard equipment on the X-Treme XB-700Li, which is not usually the case with chinese scooters and bikes. The Lithium Ion batteries are much better than conventional sealed lead-acid (SLA) that are used in most electric bikes and scooters. I attached the pedals, for legal reasons, but found them hard to use for much more than a few feet. The pedals are far apart making it hard to continually pedal. I just used the motor 99.9% of the time and had no problems getting around town. The XB-700Li's 25-35 mile range is double the range of most other e-bikes and electric scooters that I have ridden, so it was more comfortable to go farther. I was not worried about the bike running out of juice after just a few miles. The lights, turn signals, and gauges were all very helpful in navigating the city streets, and parking lots. The Seat was super comfortable and the storage compartments allowed me to go to the store and get some things I needed to make dinner. Most e-bikes do not have much storage space. Overall, the XB-700Li is a great commuter, it's comfy, smooth, reliable (for the 1 week I rode it) and most of all, it charges within 2-3 hours. Lithium Ion batteries charge much quicker than SLA maintenance free batteries. I like the XB-700Li and would recommend it to riders 16 years old and up. Pros: -Large but not too heavy -Functional head and tail lights -Functional front/rear turn signals -Lithium Ion batteries are lightweight, and exponentially more efficient than SLA -Large padded moped style seat that is fully adjustable -Speedometer and battery indicator lights. -Rear and side facing reflectors -Tool kit included -Keyed ignition for added safety -Storage under the seat, the keyed ignition cluster, and rear keyed cargo box -Not scary fast -Sealed motor/electric components and can be ridden in the rain -Reliable power all the way through the charge cycle Cons: -Pedals are not useful -Can be mistaken for a motorcycle -Larger size makes it not shipable by ground If you are interested in purchasing the X-Treme XB-700Li Electric Bike you can find everything you need to know at Urbanscooters.com XB-700Li Electric Bike |
