The X-treme XB-508 Electric Bike is a great introductory electric bicycle with enough power to suit both adult, and adolescent riders. The XB-508 is a smaller version of X-treme's XB-600 Electric Bike, but a bigger version of their XB-502, so there is a perfect sized E-bike for the whole family. The XB-508 is a great commuter that produces a lot of power through it's 550 watt brushless hub mounted motor.  I clocked the XB-508 at 21 mph on a downhill, but only 18 mph on level ground. The 20 mile range leaves plenty of room for most short commutes under 20 miles total distance. I took the XB-508 to the store, and then to the river trail to let loose, and the XB-508 exceeded my range expectiations. The headlights, taillights, and front/rear turn signals on this bike make it look like a motorcycle and I even had a police officer inquire as to where the license plates were, but I pulled out the Federal Electric Bicycle Law that I keep on me and the officer understood. The pedals are not easy to pedal, so I believe that they are more of a requirement for the bike to be considered a bike, than a functional set of pedals. Overall, the X-Treme XB-508 is a really great electric bike and it's range and speed capabilities make it a great candidate for a universal family scooter.  Teenagers to seniors can ride and enjoy the XB-508 without compromising their safety or well being. The XB-508 does not have blistering speed or accelleration, but the mild mannered electric bike has a great range compared to faster models.  I enjoyed the X-Trerme XB-508 Electric Bicycle and would recommend it to anyone ages 12 and up.
