The Segway Personal Transporter is the pinnacle of electric personal transportation, and a serious case of, "You get what you pay for". The Segway is approximately the cost of a nice used vehicle, and it is not something that everyone can justify. If you are looking for the highest quality and longest range capabilities, then the segway is a great place to turn. The segway is a super unique two wheeled electric personal transport vehicle that compensates for the riders movements with the electric motors power. If you lean forward, the segway will compensate for the way you lean and move forward with you, so as not to let you topple over. I got a chance to ride one of the Segway Personal Transporters at an Electric Vehicle Convention in Long Beach, Ca. Upon boarding the Segway i2 Personal Transporter, I noticed that it was moving before I even got on it. The Segway is almost immediately understood and can conquer all types of turns, terrains, and rider requirements. After a few seconds on the Segway, I was taking turns at full speed and stopping on a dime. I realized how this crazy contraption worked and I gave it a little test in the open parking lot. I leaned forward, as if I was going to go into the Push-up postition, and the Segway sprung to life with accelleration to prevent me from falling forward. The accelleration was quick, and the tires even spun a little bit to catch me, and I realized that the segway will stop and go much more quickly than I thought it would. The turning and handlinig eventually become instinctual because of the way that Segway designed the PT to react to your body's positioning, instead of hand controls. Segway has many models of the PT for many different uses, including, off road, touring, commuting, and the base model that I tried. If you are looking for a serious toy, then the Segway Personal Transporter is the best possible option that you could possibly buy. I would recommend the Segway to anyone and everyone that can afford it. The price point is a little bit out of most peoples reach though. You get what you pay for, and this thing is not cheap. Segway Personal Transporter Specifications: -Weight: 105 lbs. -Tires: 19" diameter -Max Speed: 12.5 mph -Range: Up to 24 miles on a single charge Pros: -Highest quality available -Lithium Ion power -Impressive range specifications -Instinctual navigation -Very reliable -Very safe -Scratch resistant tires -Indoor/outdoor operation -Quiet operation Cons: -Very high price point -Limited availability (from some places) -A bit heavy to be lifting in and out of cars Check out the Segway Personal Transporter Online at this Electric Scooter and Bike Store |
