If you pedal a little off the line and then hit the power, the motor will easily take over, as it will be in the proper RPM range for the motor to work most efficiently. The Crystalyte brand came out with the Phoenix line of brushless hub motors to blow everything else out of the water. The Crystalyte Cruiser motor, when coupled with the 4840 controller, can reach speeds up to 30 mph in 13 seconds! That is fast enough for me. The racer will reach 36 mph in 19 seconds with the same controller.
